How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity? Do you have experience creating designs from concept through to manufacture and enjoy solving engineering challenges? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

    Our client, a growing engineering business, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Coventry. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering foundation, a curious and proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to both develop new designs from scratch and improve existing products.

    Mechanical Design Engineer
    Job Description
    • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies from concept through to manufacture
    • Produce detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation
    • Modify, improve, and optimise existing designs to meet customer and business requirements
    • Support product development activities across a range of engineering projects
    • Work closely with manufacturing, production, and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
    • Conduct engineering calculations and technical assessments to validate designs
    • Support prototype development, testing, and design verification activities
    • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the design process
    • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and specifications
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices

    Mechanical Design Engineer 

    Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
    • 2-3 years' experience within a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar position
    • Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
    • Experience creating mechanical designs from concept as well as modifying existing products and assemblies
    • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
    • CAD design experience, with SolidWorks experience being advantageous but not essential
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in engineering and product development
    • Eager to learn, develop, and take ownership of engineering projects
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Desirable Experience
    • Experience within the Automotive or Aerospace sectors
    • Exposure to FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and/or CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) tools
    • Knowledge of product testing, validation, and design verification processes
    • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques within regulated engineering environments
