How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Specialist SEND School Seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant with ASD Experience

    Southwark, South East London

    Pay: £95 - £115 per day

    Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

    Contract: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for a permanent position)

    About the Role:

    Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Southwark to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

    This is a full-time, long-term position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on Autism. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

    Previous experience working with children with Autism is highly desirable, alongside excellent communication skills, patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.

    Key Responsibilities for the SEND Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialism Role:

    • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder

    • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

    • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities

    • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans

    • Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour

    • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs

    • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

    • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals

    • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all pupils at all times

    Requirements for the SEND Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialism Role:

    • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (essential)

    • Experience working within a SEND setting (desirable)

    • Knowledge of Autism and associated communication needs

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

    • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
