How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is a leading residential developer dedicated to building high-quality, sustainable affordable housing communities across central Scotland. They take pride in delivering homes that make a real difference to local families. Due to an expanding pipeline of new contract wins, we are looking for a commercial professional to manage projects from our Glasgow hub.

    The Role

As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial ownership of affordable housing developments from pre-commencement through to final accounts. This role offers a dynamic split between their collaborative Glasgow office and active construction sites across the Central Belt.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Commercial Management: Manage all subcontract procurement, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
    • Cost Control: Budget preparation, regular forecasting, and regular cost-value reconciliations (CVRs).
    • Site Collaboration: Work closely with Site Managers and Project Directors to optimize project delivery and profitability.
    • Client Relations: Act as the primary commercial contact for housing associations and local authority clients.
    • Subcontractor Management: Assess tracker claims, issue payments, and resolve commercial disputes fairly.

    What We Are Looking For

    • Experience: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK residential sector (affordable housing or mainstream housebuilding experience is highly advantageous).
    • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
    • Skills: Strong negotiation skills, sharp attention to detail, and robust knowledge of standard construction contracts (such as JCT or SBCC).
    • Mobility: Full UK driving licence to travel to various site locations across Central Scotland.

To apply for the role, submit your up-to-date CV and Nicola Monro will come back to you directly to discuss in more detail
