We are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join a busy fleet maintenance operation, overseeing the day-to-day running of a vehicle repair workshop and supporting the delivery of essential frontline services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled vehicle maintenance professional with supervisory experience to lead a team, maintain high operational standards, and contribute to the efficient management of a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant equipment.
### The Role
As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will support workshop operations, manage workloads, provide technical guidance, and help ensure fleet availability meets operational demands.
You will also play a key role in fleet planning, compliance, health and safety, performance monitoring, and supporting future developments, including the transition towards low-emission and electric vehicles.
### Key Responsibilities
Supervise vehicle inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs across a varied fleet
Lead and support workshop technicians and apprentices
Ensure vehicles are maintained in accordance with legal, safety and operational requirements
Monitor workshop productivity, quality standards and fleet availability
Support MOT and HGV test preparation activities
Assist with maintenance planning and resource allocation
Produce accurate management information and operational reports
Maintain excellent health and safety standards throughout the workshop
Support continuous improvement and cost-effective fleet management
Contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives, including fleet decarbonisation
Liaise with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure service requirements are met
### About You
To be successful, you will have:
Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, inspections and repairs
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a workshop environment
Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance operations and compliance requirements
Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
Experience planning workloads and managing competing priorities
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A proactive, solution-focused approach
Commitment to delivering high-quality work and customer service
Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
Full driving licence (Category C desirable)
