How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Site Agent – Civil Engineering

    Location: Hatfield, Doncaster
    Employment Type: Permanent
    Salary: Competitive salary + package
Sector: Civil Engineering / Main Contractor

Fulcrum Recruitment is working with a well-established civil engineering main contractor that is looking to appoint a capable and driven Site Agent to support the delivery of civil engineering schemes across the Yorkshire region.

This is a permanent opportunity with a respected principal contractor delivering a varied range of design-and-build infrastructure and public realm projects. The role will be based from the company’s office in Hatfield, Doncaster, with projects delivered across Yorkshire and the surrounding region.

The company delivers schemes typically ranging from £1m to £15m, with average project values generally sitting between £5m and £8m, and the capability to deliver larger schemes where required.

    The Role

As Site Agent, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the successful delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

You will lead site operations, coordinate direct labour and subcontractors, manage programme and progress, maintain site records and work closely with commercial, engineering and client teams.

This role would suit an experienced Site Agent who is confident managing civils projects, leading site teams and maintaining high standards across health, safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.

    Project Types

The contractor delivers a broad range of general civil engineering and infrastructure schemes, including new highway works, road adaptations, cycle paths, tow paths, footpaths, bridges, retaining walls, drainage, flood alleviation, public realm and streetscape improvements.

Projects are delivered across the Yorkshire region, with current and secured work including areas such as Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Hull, Scunthorpe, Huddersfield, Brighouse, Elland, Bradford, Halifax, Kirklees, Harrogate and York.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead daily site operations, setting high standards for health, safety, environmental performance, quality and productivity.

    * Manage inductions, toolbox talks, RAMS, permits, Construction Phase Plans, QA records and site documentation.

    * Coordinate direct labour, subcontractors, plant, materials and site resources to ensure works are delivered efficiently.

    * Support planning, sequencing, weekly lookaheads, progress monitoring, procurement schedules and programme updates.

    * Manage technical queries, information flow, document control and temporary works requirements in line with company procedures.

    * Maintain accurate records, measurements, reports and commercial information to support variations, cost control and monthly reporting.

    * Chair or contribute to site meetings, client progress meetings and internal project reviews.

    * Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams while maintaining a positive site culture.

    Candidate Requirements

    * Previous experience as a Site Agent delivering civil engineering schemes for a contractor.

    * Experience on projects such as highways, drainage, roads, structures, public realm, flood alleviation or similar civils works.

    * HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be beneficial.

    * CSCS card, SMSTS and a full UK driving licence are required.

    * Good understanding of site management, temporary works, RAMS, QA, programme, commercial records and NEC contract processes.

    * Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills, with the ability to manage site teams and client relationships effectively.

    * First Aid at Work, planning software experience and good IT skills would be advantageous.

    The Opportunity

This is a strong long-term opportunity with a stable and well-regarded civil engineering contractor offering regional work, varied projects and genuine progression opportunities.

The company has a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, with long-term commitment to the region and no regular requirement to lodge away.

    Package

The package includes a competitive salary, car or allowance provision where applicable, pension and standard company benefits. The role also offers long-term stability, varied civil engineering projects, regional work, strong management support and clear progression opportunities as the business continues to grow.
