Shift Rotation - 2 Week Rotation
Week 1 : Monday to Friday 05:00 – 15:00
Week 2 : Monday to Friday 16:00 – 02:00
This role will be working within a Food FMCG manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to production breakdowns, delivering planned preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across a wide range of food processing and packaging equipment.
This role requires strong mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, excellent fault-finding skills, and the ability to work effectively within a high-volume production environment. Experience with automated production and packaging machinery within food manufacturing is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and housekeeping at all times.
Adhere to all site safety procedures, including Permit to Work systems, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and Standard Operating Procedures.
Follow lock-off and isolation procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities and corrective maintenance in line with maintenance schedules.
Support production and packing operations by providing timely engineering assistance.
Conduct fault-finding and repair activities on mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
Complete electrical installation work and minor engineering projects as required.
Perform routine maintenance activities, including lubrication and equipment inspections.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.
Equipment and Systems
Experience working with food processing and packaging machinery such as:
Conveyors and automated transport systems, Tray and module handling equipment, Processing machinery, Tray sealers, Flow wrappers, Vacuum packaging equipmen, PLC-controlled production systems
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
* City & Guilds qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
* Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
* Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
* Proven fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering and electrical schematic drawings.
* Good workshop and fabrication skills.
* Welding experience (MIG, TIG and/or ARC).
* Self-motivated with strong organisational skills.
* Proactive approach and positive attitude.
* Experience working within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Desirable
* ONC, HNC, or equivalent engineering qualification.
* 17th/18th Edition Electrical Regulations.
* PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting experience.
* Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
* Previous experience within food manufacturing, food processing, or FMCG production environments
