Optical Payloads / Imaging – Spacecraft Systems

As part of the Optical Payloads group, you’ll collaborate closely with experts across the Optical Department and core satellite mission teams. You'll help shape critical systems and contribute to breakthrough space technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead verification, testing, and debugging of imager electronics for Optical Payloads
Develop and execute test plans for digital, analogue, and mixed‑signal electronics
Perform detailed circuit‑level debugging using lab equipment and diagnostic tools
Conduct board‑level validation, characterisation, and performance assessment
Support design teams by reviewing schematics and layouts, ensuring testability and robustness
Carry out circuit simulations and analysis to support verification activities
Prepare electronics for manufacture and acceptance testing, ensuring compliance with space‑environment requirements
Design and maintain Electronics Ground Support Equipment with a focus on test automation and repeatability
Produce high‑quality technical documents, including test procedures, validation reports, and test results
Maintain technical solutions, budgets, and schedules relating to verification and test activities
Interface at system and subsystem level to ensure appropriate test coverage and traceability throughout the project lifecycle
Work closely within a core project team to support integration, AIT, and commissioning phasesWhat We're Looking For:
18 months+ of experience in electronics verification, testing, and debugging (or electronics design with strong test focus)
Experience in mixed‑signal circuit testing and validation
Strong proficiency with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, signal generators, etc.)
Familiarity with Mentor tools is a plus
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or TCL for test automation
Understanding of FPGA design and verification in VHDL
Strong fault‑finding skills and an analytical approach to diagnosing complex issuesBenefits
