How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description
     
    Holt Engineering is representing a well-established construction and infrastructure organisation seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial and contractual management of major construction projects from inception through to completion.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, procurement activities, contract administration and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments within a fast-paced project environment.
     
    Essential

    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent
    Proven experience delivering large-scale construction projects with a main contractor
    Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and commercial regulations
    Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills
    Ability to manage multiple projects independently
    Full UK driving licenceDesirable

    Civil or structural engineering experience.  
    Project management (construction) experience. 
    Valid Health & Safety Qualification i.e. UKPIA, CSCS etc.Key responsibilities

    Preparing cost estimates, budgets and detailed cost plans
    Managing contracts with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
    Conducting feasibility studies and cost analysis
    Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow
    Preparing tender documentation, bills of quantities and commercial reports
    Negotiating contract terms and resolving commercial disputes
    Implementing cost-saving initiatives and identifying project risks
    Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
    Liaising with project managers, engineers, architects and wider stakeholders
    Conducting site visits to monitor project progress and complianceBenefits
