How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Junior Estimator

    GVR Solutions are currently working with an established and growing main-contractor based in Chingford, who are looking to appoint a junior estimator to join their team. The business is looking to expand its pre-construction team with an ambitious individual who is keen to develop their estimating career within a supportive environment.

    As a business they specialise in projects in the high-end residential, heritage, commercial & hotel sectors.

    The Junior Estimator must have/be:

    * 1-3 years of experience in estimating or in a commercial role, ideally within main contracting.

    * Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

    * Good communication and organisation skills.

    * Eagerness to learn and develop under the guidance of the senior commercial team.

    * Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks under guidance.

    * Some exposure to take-offs, pricing, or tendering processes.

    * Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing.

    Key responsibilities of the Junior Estimator:

    * Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions.

    * Carrying out basic quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.

    * Maintaining and updating estimating databases, rates, and cost information.

    * Assisting senior estimators with cost planning, budgeting, and tender documentation.

    * Supporting the preparation of tender packages and submission documents.

    * Ensuring all work is carried out accurately, efficiently, and in line with deadlines.

    * Assisting in post-tender clarifications and handover to the commercial/project teams.
