How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Role

    Our client is seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is a hands-on, site-based position, offering far more than a desk-bound role. You’ll be involved throughout the full lifecycle of bespoke machinery, including:

    * Software design and programming

    * Electrical build and control panel assembly

    * Research & development activities

    * On-site installation and commissioning (UK and international travel)

    This is a varied and engaging role where no two days are the same. You’ll work on custom-built machines, solving real-world engineering challenges and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning on customer sites.

    It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and practical engineering work. As the company continues to expand its systems and product range, there is clear potential for progression, with increasing involvement in design, innovation, and customer-facing projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support and enhance existing machine designs, as well as contribute to new developments within the controls engineering team

    * Develop and program control systems using platforms such as Rockwell RSLogix 5000 (or similar)

    * Work across PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems

    * Produce electrical designs using tools such as EPlan and AutoCAD

    * Build and assemble electrical control panels, including layout, drilling, trunking, wiring, and testing

    * Participate in the installation and commissioning of machinery on customer sites worldwide (travel up to 2 weeks at a time)

    * Ensure compliance with relevant machine safety standards and regulations

    Skills & Experience

    * PLC programming (Rockwell preferred)

    * Motion control experience

    * HMI design

    * Software development for industrial systems

    * Electrical panel building and machine wiring

    * Electrical design capability

    * HND or equivalent experience (beneficial)

    * Experience within the food industry (beneficial)

    * Understanding of machine safety standards

    Additional Information

    This role offers a balanced mix of controls engineering and hands-on panel building/machine wiring (approximately 50/50 split).

    The position would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career, though recent graduates with relevant skills and a proactive attitude will also be considered
