How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Residential New Build (120 Units)

    Contract: Freelance

    Duration: circa 18 months

    Day rate: £375 - £400

    Start Date: ASAP

    We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor on a 120-unit new build residential scheme in Wimbledon, SW Lodon. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in a well-structured project at a critical stage, working alongside a strong commercial team.

    The Role
    You will be supporting both a Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS) and Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS), taking responsibility for a number of work packages that are in the final stages of procurement. The role will transition into full package management as the project moves to site and construction progresses.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Assisting with the finalisation of procurement activities and issuing tender packages

    * Managing subcontractor packages from tender through to final account

    * Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor returns

    * Cost reporting and commercial tracking

    * Supporting the commercial team with valuations, variations, and financial reporting

    * Ensuring packages are ready for smooth transition into on-site delivery

    Project Details

    * 120-unit residential new build scheme

    * Currently in late-stage procurement, moving imminently to site

    * Structured commercial team with clear support and reporting lines

    Requirements

    * Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor (residential)

    * Strong understanding of procurement and package management

    * Residential project experience preferred

    * Ability to manage multiple packages independently

    * Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills

    This is a long-term freelance opportunity offering continuity of work on a well-run scheme, with the chance to play a key role as the project progresses from procurement through to delivery.
