This role will focus on delivering high-quality disrepair surveys, with a particular emphasis on damp and mould cases. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, conducting detailed property inspections, identifying root causes, and recommending practical and compliant remedial actions. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
Conduct disrepair surveys, with the majority of cases relating to damp and mould
Diagnose causes of damp, mould, and condensation, providing clear and actionable recommendations
Produce detailed survey reports in line with legal and organisational standards
* Manage a caseload of disrepair claims from inspection through to resolution
Liaise with contractors to ensure works are completed to specification and within timescales
Work collaboratively with housing, repairs, and legal teams to resolve cases efficiently
Carry out follow-up inspections to ensure remedial works have been completed satisfactorily
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant housing standards and legislation
Support the wider team in addressing ongoing damp and mould issues across the housing stockRequirements:
Proven experience in disrepair surveying, particularly damp and mould cases
Strong understanding of building pathology, including causes of damp and condensation
Experience working within a local authority or social housing environment
Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise effectively
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Strong working knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and compliance requirements
Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with internal teams
Relevant qualification in surveying or construction (e.g. HNC/HND or equivalent)
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for property inspections
