ANZUK Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lewisham seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them access learning, develop social skills and achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.

This SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lewisham would suit experienced Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants with a strong background supporting children with ASD and additional needs in a primary school setting.
Key Responsibilities of SEND Teaching Assistant:
Support a Year 1 pupil with ASD on a dedicated 1:1 basis throughout the school day.
Implement strategies and interventions to support communication, engagement and learning.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to deliver tailored support.
Support the pupil's social, emotional and behavioural development.
Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour and engagement.
Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and support planning where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience supporting children with ASD within a primary school setting (essential).
Demonstrate a strong understanding of autism and inclusive support strategies.
Be patient, proactive and adaptable in their approach.
Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour and engagement.
Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with staff and families.
