How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Engineering Geologist

    📍 Glasgow
    💰 Up to £45,000 + Benefits + Career Progression

    Due to continued project growth, a respected engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist to join its Glasgow office. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to work across a broad portfolio of geotechnical and geo-environmental projects throughout Scotland and the UK.

    The successful candidate will take a leading role in site investigations, technical reporting, and project coordination while working within an experienced and supportive ground engineering team.

    Main Duties

    * Managing ground investigation programmes from planning through to completion

    * Supervising drilling, trial pitting, sampling, and site activities

    * Producing and reviewing factual and interpretative reports

    * Assessing geotechnical risks and ground conditions

    * Supporting contaminated land and environmental assessments

    * Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal design teams

    * Providing guidance and support to junior staff members

    Requirements

    * Degree qualified in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar

    * Solid consultancy experience within ground investigation or geotechnical engineering

    * Strong report-writing and technical interpretation skills

    * Experience overseeing fieldwork and site operations

    * Good understanding of UK standards and health & safety practices

    * Full UK driving licence
