How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pulse AHP’s Phlebotomy Team is recruiting experienced Phlebotomists / Healthcare Support Workers to support an established health research programme as it moves into its next phase across South Wales.

    Up to £19 per hour (umbrella) + weekend enhancements

    Starting July | Ongoing project

    This is a flexible, shift-based role (similar to bank work), ideal for candidates looking for part-time hours or a second role. We are looking for individuals who can commit to at least 2 days per week within a 6-day service operating Monday–Friday and Sunday.

    There is also potential for 4–5 days per week for candidates with greater availability.

    The Role

    You will be working on mobile research units across South Wales, with locations rotating approximately every 5–6 weeks. Duties include:

    • Venepuncture (2 blood samples per participant)

    • Height, weight and waist measurements

    • Blood pressure and heart rate observations

    • Data input onto clinical systems

    • Participant welfare checks and escalation where required

    • Preparing samples for courier collection

    Essential Requirements

    • Minimum 12 months recent phlebotomy experience

    • Previous HCA / clinical support experience

    • Ability to work 2–3 days per week minimum

    • Willingness to complete full Pulse registration

    • Full driving licence highly beneficial due to mobile unit locations

    Expected locations over coming months, we are looking for people to work in areas that are convenient to them, you wont be expected to work in every area if this is too far to travel.

    Cardiff, Barry, Penarth, Newport, Ebbw Vale, Caerphilly, Llaneli, Neath, Port Talbot, Tonypandy, Swansea etc.

    This role supports a large-scale health research initiative designed to help people live healthier lives for longer. Participants provide physical measurements, blood samples, and lifestyle data to support advances in disease prevention, early detection, and treatment.
