How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working with an established civil engineering sub-contractor who is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee substation projects across Scotland’s Central Belt.

The initial project will be based in Glasgow for approximately 12 months, with further secured works planned across the Central Belt thereafter.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor delivering infrastructure projects for SPEN.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing civil engineering works on substation projects, ensuring delivery is completed safely, on programme, and within budget.

Projects will involve all aspects of civil engineering associated with substation developments.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Managing the full lifecycle of civil engineering projects
    - Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
    - Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification
    - Managing programme delivery, budgets, and resource allocation
    - Maintaining strong communication with clients and stakeholders
    - Monitoring quality assurance and health & safety compliance
    - Resolving technical and operational issues throughout project delivery
    - Supporting commercial and reporting functions where required

    Candidate Requirements
    - Proven experience working as a Project Manager within civil engineering
    - Experience delivering infrastructure or utility projects
    - Strong understanding of civil engineering works associated with substations
    - Previous SPEN project experience would be advantageous, but is not essential
    - Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
    - Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams effectively
    - Relevant site and management certifications preferred

Permanent position with a competitive salary provided, all depending on experience. Long-term project pipeline and progression opportunities available. ASAP start available

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager looking to secure a long-term role with a well-established contractor delivering major substation and infrastructure works across Scotland
