How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Shop Fitter / Installation Engineer

    The Role

    As a Shop / Security Fitter, you’ll play a key role in installing, maintaining, and repairing shop fittings, doors, and security-related systems across a range of sites nationwide.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    - Installing and maintaining shop fittings, doors, and associated hardware

    - Carrying out repairs and modifications using hand and power tools

    - Reading and interpreting technical drawings and construction plans

    - Supporting painting and decorating tasks where required

    - Working safely and efficiently on a variety of projects

    - Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site organisation

    - Occasionally working independently with confidence and initiative

    The ideal candidate

    The Ideal candidate will be someone with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to get stuck in. Will ideally have experience within construction, fitting, maintenance, or a similar hands-on trade environment.

    Essential:

    - CSCS Card (minimum requirement)

    - Full UK driving licence

    - Confident using hand and power tools

    - Ability to read technical drawings

    - Strong awareness of health & safety

    - Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Desirable but not essential:

    - SSCS Card

    - Experience in joinery, decorating, masonry, plastering, or general building works

    - Previous fitting or construction experience
