How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Design Manager – Major Rail Infrastructure Programme
    Location:Wembley
    Contract Role | Full-Time | Long-Term Programme

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a major rail accessibility and enhancement programme across the UK rail network. This role will support the successful delivery of multidisciplinary rail and station improvement projects within a complex live infrastructure environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from early concept through to construction and project completion. Working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will ensure all design deliverables are completed in line with programme requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and client expectations.

You will play a key role in overseeing multidisciplinary design coordination, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, buildable, and aligned with operational and construction requirements. The position will involve managing technical reviews, design assurance activities, programme coordination, and stakeholder engagement across multiple concurrent projects.

Candidates should have strong experience operating as a Design Manager within rail infrastructure, civil engineering, or major construction environments. A strong understanding of design management processes, construction methodologies, stakeholder coordination, and infrastructure project delivery is essential.

The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage technical teams and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of project delivery. Experience within live rail environments and knowledge of rail standards and assurance processes would be highly advantageous.

This is a long-term opportunity offering involvement in nationally significant infrastructure works, competitive market rates, and the opportunity to work within a highly respected project environment delivering complex rail enhancement schemes.

Further project details are available upon application due to programme confidentiality.
