How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Sapien are looking for a Composite Engineer for an engineering consultancy working across a range of high-performance industries. This role is to support the design, analysis and delivery of advanced composite structures. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit engineering team working on technically challenging projects across multiple sectors.
    Responsibilities will include:
    * Composite component and assembly design using CAD software
    * Laminate definition, ply orientation and material selection
    * Structural analysis of composite structures using FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or Nastran
    * Hand calculations and validation activities
    * Supporting manufacturing and design-for-manufacture activities
    * Producing technical reports, drawings and engineering documentation
    * Supporting project delivery to time, cost and quality targets
    * Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients
    * Supporting bids, proposals and technical discussions where required
    Experience Required
    * Experience within composite design and composite structural analysis
    * Background within high-performance engineering sectors
    * Experience with CAD and FEA tools
    * Understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods and structural behaviour
    * Strong communication and problem solving skills
    * Ability to work both independently and within a team
    * Experience with prepreg, infusion or RTM manufacturing processes is desirable
    * Knowledge of composite failure criteria and validation methods is desirable
    * Chartered status or working towards chartership is desirable
