How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Materials Testing Technician

    Field-based across South Yorkshire | Doncaster operation

    Permanent | Up to £35,000 DOE + paid overtime & allowances

    Are you an experienced site-based Materials Testing or Geotechnical Technician looking for a stable role with consistent work, paid overtime and minimal staying away?

    Our client is expanding its Doncaster operation and is looking to recruit a proven, site-experienced technician to support a strong and growing pipeline of construction and infrastructure projects across South Yorkshire and surrounding regions.

    This role is not suitable for recent graduates or laboratory-only technicians. Site experience is essential.

    The role:

    As a construction materials technician, you will carry out on-site sampling and in-situ testing of construction materials in accordance with British and European Standards, working independently on live sites while representing the business professionally.

    Typical duties include:

    On-site sampling and in-situ testing of soils, asphalt, concrete and aggregates

    Liaising directly with site managers, engineers and clients

    Accurate recording, checking and reporting of test data

    Working to quality systems and test procedures

    Daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance

    Supporting colleagues and assisting with sample preparation where required

    To be considered for the role of construction materials technician, you must have proven site experience in construction materials testing, CMT or geotechnical testing.

    Confident working independently on live construction sites.

    Experience with soils, asphalt, concrete or ground investigations.

    Full UK driving licence.

    Strong client-facing communication skills.

    High attention to detail and quality standards.

    Reliable, well-organised and professional approach.

    Benefits of the construction materials technician include:

    Base salary up to £35,000 depending on experience

    Overtime paid after 40 hours

    Additional payments for weekend work and overnight stays

    Overnight stays are infrequent – typically once every month

    Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (additional hours available by choice)
