How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Shift Maintenance Electrician

    Location: Gateshead

    The Company:

    Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business operating within a large-scale industrial environment. With continued investment in their site, equipment and engineering function, they are looking to strengthen their maintenance team with the addition of a skilled Shift Electrician.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced production environment where reliability, teamwork and continuous improvement are highly valued.

    Working Hours:

    12-hour continental shift pattern covering days and nights.

    Job Description:

    As a Shift Electrician, you will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability and minimising production downtime within a busy manufacturing facility.

    You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding on electrical systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across site.

    The successful candidate will have strong experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and be confident fault finding on automated equipment within an industrial environment.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Attending and resolving electrical breakdowns quickly and safely

    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities

    Fault finding on PLC-controlled systems and production equipment

    Working with inverters, drives and control systems

    Reading, modifying and interpreting electrical drawings

    Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects

    Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures

    Following and adhering to LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures at all times

    Communicating effectively with production and engineering teams during shift handovers

    Skills & Experience:

    Minimum 5 years’ electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing or industrial environments

    17th / 18th Edition qualification

    Strong PLC fault finding experience (Allen Bradley desirable)

    Experience working on automated production machinery

    Ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently

    Experience with preventative maintenance systems

    Understanding of electrical control systems and inverters/drives

    Experience working safely under LOTO procedures

    Strong problem-solving ability and team-working mindset

    Desirable:

    Allen Bradley PLC programming knowledge

    Experience within heavy process, manufacturing, paper, board or industrial environments

    Experience working shifts in a 24/7 operation

    Experience working with gas systems/processes

    Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
