How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to take on a new challenge within the Water industry? If you value job security, enjoy working in a tight knit, supportive environment with excellent opportunity to progress then this could be the role for you.

    A large specialist engineering firm and looking for a QS to support commercial delivery across engineering projects, managing financial and contractual matters from tender through to completion. You'll work under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, gaining broad exposure across different business streams. The role exists to provide consistent commercial support as projects progress and contract workloads increase.

    Based in Scotland working on projects in multiple UK locations.

    The role

    As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be involved in the commercial management of contracts and sub-contracts across mechanical, electrical and civil engineering services. The role is focused on maintaining sound financial control and robust contract administration to support successful project outcomes. You'll operate within a collaborative commercial team with opportunities to broaden your experience over time.

    What you'll be doing

    - Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    - Managing contract and subcontract administration, including tender enquiries and associated documentation.
    - Supporting the preparation, review and agreement of contract documentation and variations.
    - Assisting with cost control, cost optimisation activities and the preparation of financial reports.
    - Contributing to the monitoring of contract performance against commercial targets.
    - Providing commercial support to senior colleagues across different business streams.

    What we're looking for

    - Experience in a quantity surveying or commercial role, ideally within construction or engineering.
    - Understanding of contract and subcontract administration, including tender processes and documentation.
    - Ability to build effective working relationships with project teams, suppliers and clients.
    - Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
    - Organised and proactive approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
    - Willingness to learn from senior commercial staff and develop within the role.
