How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    MATERNITY COVER

35 hours per week, 38 weeks term time only

Solihull College & University Centre is seeking a passionate and preferably experienced Hairdressing Technician for our Blossomfield campus to support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in our Hairdressing department on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting both staff and students in our state-of-the-art salons.

You will assist in preparing equipment, materials, and resources for practical sessions, while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised salon environment. During practical lessons, you will provide technical support and help monitor stock levels, assisting with the ordering of supplies as needed.

Under the guidance of teaching staff, you will support students in developing their practical skills, ensuring that health and safety protocols are consistently followed.

To be successful in this role, you should hold a relevant qualification in Hairdressing (minimum Level 2) and have recent experience working in a salon or training environment.

You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail and be confident in working with students and supporting diverse learning needs. You will also be a team player with a proactive attitude.

The College is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community and welcomes applications from individuals across all sectors. We aim to reflect the diversity of our student population in our staff profile, ensuring that we provide the best possible experience and environment for our learners. Our goal is to continue to develop a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive workplace where all staff can thrive.

For the next stage in the process, you will be required to attend the College’s premises, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Solihull College & University Centre is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students and expects all staff to engage fully with this commitment.
