How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are supporting a leading energy infrastructure developer in the search for an experienced Grid Connections Project Manager on an initial 12 month contract to oversee the delivery of critical transmission-level grid connection projects across the UK.

    This is a key role focused on managing the end-to-end interface between the developer, National Grid, EPC contractors, and wider project stakeholders to ensure grid connection works are delivered safely, efficiently, and on programme.

    The position offers the opportunity to work on major energy infrastructure and substation projects at transmission level, supporting the delivery of large-scale energy and grid stability schemes.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage the full lifecycle of transmission-level grid connection projects from early interface coordination through to energisation.

    * Act as the primary interface between the project team and National Grid, ensuring programmes, scopes, and deliverables are progressed effectively.

    * Coordinate with grid connection engineers, operational teams, EPC contractors, and substation delivery teams.

    * Drive progress across National Grid processes, proactively challenging delays and ensuring accountability across all parties.

    * Oversee delivery of developer-owned substation scopes and associated transmission infrastructure.

    * Monitor project schedules, risks, budgets, and technical deliverables.

    * Support construction, commissioning, outage planning, and energisation activities.

    * Ensure projects are delivered in line with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.

    Requirements

    * Proven experience delivering transmission-level grid connection projects within the UK energy sector.

    * Strong understanding of National Grid processes, interfaces, and delivery requirements.

    * Experience working for EPC contractors, principal contractors, utilities, or major infrastructure organisations.

    * Demonstrable experience delivering schemes such as:

    * 275kV / 400kV substations

    * Bay extensions

    * Super Grid Transformers (SGTs)

    * Transmission connection works

    * Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and drive programme delivery.

    * Strong commercial awareness and project management capability.

    * Hands-on approach with the confidence to challenge processes and push projects forward.

    *

    Desirable

    * Background working with major contractors or transmission infrastructure providers.

    * Experience across energy storage, renewables, or wider grid infrastructure projects.

    * Knowledge of commissioning and energisation processes.
