Contract / Locum Opportunity
- We are seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic adult services team in Wales. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting independence, improving quality of life, and supporting individuals to remain safely in their own homes.
About the Role
You will work with adults, primarily those with complex needs, carrying out assessments and delivering interventions that promote independence and reduce reliance on long-term care services.
Your work will include:
- Assessing for aids and equipment to support daily living
- Recommending and monitoring minor and major home adaptations
- Completing manual handling assessments
- Evaluating the effectiveness and impact of interventions
A key focus of the role is to help individuals maintain independence, reducing the need for ongoing care packages and supporting the Council’s objective of enabling people to remain at home for as long as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and reviews for adult service users
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, including social workers and healthcare professionals
- Liaise with NHS colleagues, GPs, council departments, and voluntary organisations
- Monitor and review the implementation of equipment and adaptation recommendations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using electronic systems
- Support and supervise junior staff, students, and Occupational Therapy Assistants
- Contribute to service development across the local area
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and supervision sessions
Working Environment
- Patch-based working system
- Strong collaboration with primary healthcare teams
- Active involvement in student training and fieldwork education
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant registration
- Experience working with adults, particularly those with complex needs
- Strong assessment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
