How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity as Strategic Project Buyer

    A leading engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Strategic Project Buyer to support new product introduction and drive effective sourcing strategies from concept through to production. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, procurement, and operations, ensuring cost-effective and reliable supply solutions.

    Key Responsibilities as Strategic Project Buyer

    Lead procurement activities across NPI and industrialisation projects
    Integrate sourcing strategies with engineering and production requirements
    Manage RFQs, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations
    Ensure availability of materials and components to meet project timelines
    Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations on DFM/DFA and technical alignment
    Support supplier audits, qualification, and performance reviews
    Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
    Maintain procurement data, contracts, and project documentation
    Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are met
    Support smooth transition from project phase into serial production

    Skills & Experience as Strategic Project Buyer

    Experience in a strategic or project-based buying role within engineering/manufacturing
    Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
    Good understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chains
    Experience with ERP systems and data analysis
    Effective stakeholder and supplier management skills
    Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
    Professional qualification (e.g. CIPS) desirable
    Exposure to NPI or industrialisation processes beneficial
    Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement methods advantageous
    Willingness to travel to suppliers as required
