How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description:

    A major Building contractor who are known as a real market leader in their field, delivering large scale new build construction projects the length and breadth of the UK.

    Supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager, the successful Site Manager will help form the delivery team for the construction of a new £150m+ flagship development in Glasgow.

    This vacancy represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Site Manager who is keen to work on landmark building projects.

    HIGH-RISE experience is essential for this role.

    Responsibilities:

    * Work closely with the Project Manager to monitor and manage the construction working programme.

    * Delegate tasks appropriately taking into account the project requirements, time, resources, personnel, and capability.

    * Produce and contribute to reports and progress updates in the correct format and in a timely manner.

    * Manage subcontractors and communicate instructions / directions in relation to the construction working programme.

    * Arrange and attend subcontractor pre-start meetings with Project Manager and Quantity Surveyors.

    * Study and maintain sight of drawings and plans in order to understand costs and budgets with a view to eliminating or minimising waste.

    * Where required, complete requisitions for plant, labour and materials needed for the programme.

    * Check and sign for materials delivered to site and identify any problems, errors, or other issues. Maintain an accurate record of deliveries.

    * Prepare for meetings by collating information, reports, data, and other details in order to present an accurate, succinct, and supported viewpoint.

    * Maintain accurate records in relation to the project (e.g. communications, emails, minutes, reports, finances, procurement and commercial etc.)

    * Produce method statements and risk assessments as required.

    * Liaise with quantity surveyors and subcontractors to identify, as early as possible, damages and time loss. Escalate and report these issues appropriately in line with agreed reporting lines and procedures.

    * Produce short-term programmes that sit appropriately within the main programme. Share these appropriately, provide guidance, explanations, and instructions to enact the plan.

    * Assist with the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan (CPHSP) and Site Security Protocol.

    * Undertake quality assurance checks and take appropriate, timely actions to address any issues that are identified.

    * Undertake appropriate checks and inspections (e.g. machinery, plant, scaffolding, excavation) in relation to health and safety to ensure that working practices and the working environment are in compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.

    * Complete and update weekly registers in relation to checks and inspections, including (but not limited to) safety inspections material requisitions, personal protective equipment, permit to dig, HOT works permit etc.)

    * Record and take suitable actions to prevent recurrence of accidents and incidents on site, in line with health and safety procedures.

    * Ensure suitable RAMS are prepared, in place and reviewed.

    * Deliver inductions and Toolbox Talks to site operatives as required.

    Essential Criteria:

    * Proven track record of working on high-rise new build projects for a main contractor or residential builder.

    * Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering

    * A respectable leader with organisational skills and the ability to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    * CSCS, SMSTS & First Aid

    * Applicants must reside within commuting distance of Glasgow City Centre.
