How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Managing Director – Waste Services
    Kent / South East | Executive Level | Six-Figure Package + Benefits

    Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Managing Director to lead a high-growth, multi-site business operating within the Waste Services and Circular Economy sector.

    This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a well-established, entrepreneurial business with strong revenues, a clear growth trajectory, and the backing of a supportive group structure.

    Our client operates a large-scale, asset-heavy operation with significant market presence and ambitious plans for further expansion. The business combines commercial agility with long-term strategic investment and is now entering a new phase of transformation and alignment.

    With strong foundations already in place, the focus now is on professionalising the structure, driving operational excellence, and delivering sustainable, scalable growth.

    The Role

    As Managing Director, you will hold full P&L responsibility and lead the executive leadership team, translating strategic vision into operational delivery.

    This is not a maintenance role it is a transformation-led appointment, requiring a hands-on leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels.

    Key areas of focus will include:

    * Driving organisational alignment and removing inefficiencies across multiple business units

    * Leading and developing a high-performing executive team

    * Delivering a clear strategic roadmap aligned to group growth objectives

    * Identifying and executing opportunities for organic growth and acquisitions

    * Enhancing operational efficiency, systems integration, and customer delivery

    * Acting as a key interface between leadership and ownership stakeholders

    What We’re Looking For

    We are seeking a proven senior leader who brings both commercial and operational depth.

    * Previous experience operating as Managing Director or COO within a £50m–£100m+ business

    * Background within Waste Management, Logistics, Recycling, or a similar asset-heavy sector

    * Demonstrated success in transformation, turnaround, or scaling environments

    * Experience working within entrepreneurial business structures

    * Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategy and execution

    * A hands-on leadership style with credibility across both boardroom and operational environments
