The Role
This is where you move from leading a team… to owning the operation.
You’ll be responsible for making sure the warehouse runs properly. Not just “busy” - but efficient, safe, and hitting targets consistently. You’ll be managing people, processes, and performance all at once.
It’s a step up in accountability. You’re not just overseeing tasks anymore, you’re responsible for making sure everything comes together and delivers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing day to day warehouse operations across inbound, outbound and dispatch
- Managing team leaders and operatives to ensure performance targets are met
- Planning and allocating labour to meet workload and deadlines
- Ensuring orders are picked, packed and despatched on time
- Driving health and safety standards across the warehouse
- Monitoring performance, KPIs and reporting accuracy
- Holding team meetings and setting clear expectations
- Supporting, training and developing your team including appraisals
- Managing absence, holidays and general people management
- Dealing with issues quickly including operational and people challenges
- Working closely with clients and attending performance meetings
- Identifying areas for improvement and driving operational changes
What You’ll Need
- Strong experience within a warehouse or distribution environment
- Proven experience managing teams in a fast paced operation
- Good understanding of warehouse processes, KPIs and performance management
- Experience dealing with employee relations issues and people management
- Confidence communicating with both teams and clients
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good IT skills including Excel and warehouse systems
- A proactive approach with a focus on improving how things are done
