How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A well-established Construction Consultancy are seeking a Building Surveyor to join their London office. This Building Surveyor opportunity provides exposure to a wide range of projects and property portfolios, supporting your development across Building Surveying services. The Building Surveyor will work closely with clients, providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings. This role offers practical experience and the chance to develop core Building Surveying skills while working within a growing team.

    The Company?
    The successful Building Surveyor will join an organisation delivering projects across commercial, education, residential, leisure and health sectors. The team focuses on clear, practical advice and the delivery of technical solutions for a wide client base. You will gain experience across multiple Building Surveying disciplines while contributing to the delivery of high-quality outcomes.

    The Role
    As the Building Surveyor you will work alongside senior colleagues to manage projects and provide technical advice throughout the property lifecycle.

    The role will include:
    * Carrying out building and measured surveys
    * Ensuring buildings comply with current building regulations and technical standards
    * Taking particulars on site, writing specifications, obtaining estimates and planning maintenance programmes
    * Administering contracts for maintenance and refurbishment work
    * Analysing and reporting on building defects
    * Handling claims and liaising with loss adjusters, producing remedial drawings and specifications
    * Preparing schedules of dilapidations for land and buildings

    The Building Surveyor?
    You will be organised, commercially aware and motivated to develop a career in Building Surveying. Applications from non-construction or non-property backgrounds will not be considered.

    The Building Surveyor must have:
    * A degree in Building Surveying or a related property discipline
    * Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
    * Good written and verbal communication skills
    * Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team
    * Practical understanding of building regulations and maintenance programmes
