How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Watford is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This full-time, long-term position is ideal for someone with previous SEN experience or an individual looking to develop a career within special educational needs and inclusive education. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child’s educational journey by providing consistent, tailored support.

    About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil requiring additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and fully engage in school life.

You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment where the pupil can thrive both academically and socially.

    Key Responsibilities

    Providing Individualised Support
Deliver focused one-to-one assistance tailored to the pupil’s specific learning and developmental needs.

    Supporting Learning and Daily Routines
Help the pupil participate fully in classroom activities, routines, and wider school life by adapting tasks where needed.

    Promoting Confidence and Independence
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and the development of social and independent learning skills.

    Monitoring Progress
Observe, record, and report on pupil progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff and contributing to support strategies.

    Supporting Education Plans
Assist with the delivery and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other personalised learning targets.

Working as Part of the SEN Team
Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, support staff, and parents to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach.

    Contributing to School Life
Play an active role in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all pupils.

    About You

The ideal candidate will be calm, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills
Can confidently follow guidance from teaching staff and SEN professionals
Is able to support both academic learning and emotional development
Holds an enhanced DBS certificate or is willing to obtain one
    What the School Offers

    Supportive School Environment
Join a welcoming school community where staff wellbeing and pupil success are highly valued.

    Professional Development Opportunities
Access SEN-specific training and ongoing career development to help you grow in your role.

    Collaborative Team Culture
Work alongside experienced professionals who are committed to providing the best outcomes for every child.

    Excellent Location
The school is conveniently located in Watford with strong public transport links and easy access for commuters.
