Overview
An established UK operation supporting a global manufacturer of specialist heavy plant equipment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its expanding service team. This is a technically varied role offering long-term stability, structured training, and exposure to complex, high-value machinery.
The position is primarily workshop-based, with field support and travel required occasionally needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Commissioning, fault-finding, repair of heavy plant equipment
* Planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
* Inspection, repair, and overhaul of gearboxes, drives, motors etc.
* Accurate completion of service reports, inspection records, and technical documentation
* Liaising with customers and internal service teams to diagnose and resolve faults, including telephone-based support
* Providing feedback from site activity to international after-sales and engineering teams
Training & Development
Comprehensive product training and ongoing technical development will be provided.
Candidate Requirements
* Strong understanding of modern mobile hydraulics and electrical/electronic systems
* Relevant mechanical, electrical, or plant engineering qualifications
* Valid CSCS card
* Methodical and detail-focused approach to complex mechanical work
* Good literacy and IT skills, with the ability to interpret and produce technical documentation
* Strong communication skills and customer-focused attitude
* Full UK driving licence and passport
* Right to work in the UK
* Flexible approach to working hours, including out-of-hours work and travel across the UK & Ireland
