How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Process Engineer – Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement / Capital Projects

    Connected Engineering is delighted to be supporting the recruitment of a Process Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Barnsley. This role sits within the engineering team and focuses on process optimisation, continuous improvement, and supporting capital projects within a regulated production environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Analyse manufacturing processes, workflows, and production performance data

    * Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste

    * Support capital projects, including equipment upgrades, automation, and new process implementation

    * Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

    * Carry out process mapping and value stream mapping activities

    * Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

    * Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

    * Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams

    * Support the introduction of automation, CNC machinery, and robotics

    Requirements:

    * Experience as a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Production Engineer

    * Background in a manufacturing or production environment (regulated preferred)

    * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools

    * Experience with OEE, KPIs, and process performance analysis

    * Understanding of process mapping and value stream mapping

    * Exposure to automation, CNC, or industrial manufacturing technologies

    * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

    Desirable:

    * Experience in precision engineering or component manufacturing

    * Knowledge of quality systems and measurement techniques (e.g. gauge R&R)

    * Experience supporting capital projects
