Our client who is a leading global consultancy with an enviable track record of delivering complex infrastructure programmes across the UK and internationally. They are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to join their growing water infrastructure team based in Tamworth.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the commercial function on a high-profile water sector programme. You will play a pivotal role in driving commercial performance, managing risk, and ensuring the successful delivery of contracts from procurement through to final account.
Whilst experience in the water sector would be an advantage, it is not essential. Our client is particularly keen to attract candidates with a strong civils background who can bring transferable commercial expertise to the team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all commercial activities across the programme, including contract administration, procurement, and cost management
Manage and mentor a team of commercial staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
Provide commercial strategy and guidance to the project leadership team
Oversee the preparation and submission of valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
Manage contract risk and opportunity, proactively identifying and resolving commercial issues
Ensure contractual compliance across the supply chain, including subcontract management
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary commercial point of contact
Produce accurate and timely commercial reports, forecasts, and cost plans for senior stakeholders
Collaborate closely with project delivery, planning, and legal teams to ensure integrated commercial management
Support dispute resolution and negotiation processes where requiredEssential Requirements
Proven track record as a Commercial Lead, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or equivalent within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector
Strong experience managing NEC or other standard form contracts in a principal contractor or consultant capacity
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop commercial teams
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at senior level
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
MRICS, MCIOB, or working towards a relevant professional qualification (desirable)Desirable Experience
Experience working on water, utilities, or regulated infrastructure programmes
Familiarity with AMP (Asset Management Plan) frameworks or Ofwat regulatory environment
