Platform Engineer - SCADA
Location: Warwick (Hybrid - flexible, onsite when required)
Rate: £550-£600 per day
Contract: 6‑month fixed-term contract (strong likelihood of extension or transition to permanent)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Platform Engineer to support and evolve SCADA platforms operating within OT and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments. This role sits within a newly forming SCADA Platform Engineering team and offers the opportunity to work on systems that underpin essential national services.
SCADA experience is welcome but not essential - strong Platform Engineers with the right mindset will be supported through structured training.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA Platform & Application Support
Provide day-to-day platform and application support for SCADA systems
Ensure platforms, servers, databases, and tooling are secure, stable, and compliant
Platform Engineering & Operations
Manage platform and server operations, including patching, configuration, and automation
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell
Coordinate deployments, changes, and upgrades with robust testing and quality assurance
SCADA Programme Support
Support delivery activities within the SCADA transformation programme, including migration to Monarch SCADA
Operate within SLA-driven support models and collaborate with vendors (e.g. AspenTech DGM)
Contribute to the SCADA platform roadmap, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
Act as a technical point of contact for stakeholders across operations, engineering, and change teams
Support and deliver SCADA platform training for internal users
Collaborate closely within a growing SCADA platform team
Skills & Experience
Essential
Experience as a Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Application Support Engineer
Strong understanding of Windows/Linux environments and IT service management (incident, problem, change)
Proven scripting and automation experience (Python / PowerShell)
Adaptable approach with a willingness to learn SCADA and OT technologies
Desirable
Experience with SCADA systems or OT environments
Background in Utilities, Energy, or CNI sectors
Exposure to SCADA architecture, OT security, or vendor-supported platforms
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience
