How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Orbit is a fantastic business and one that’s really going places.

Orbit was formed in 1967 with the aim of providing good-quality housing for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy their own home.

Over 50 years later, we’re one of the leading housing providers in the UK. Our services have diversified, our housing portfolio has expanded, and our reputation as an innovator within our sector has grown. But one thing that has never changed. Our belief in people and what they can achieve.

Make support referrals, provide professional advice, and signpost customers to relevant services.
Act as one of Orbit’s Designated Safeguarding Leads, supporting customers and colleagues to ensure safety and protection.
Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key partner agencies, including Local Authorities, MARAC, MAPPA, Fire Service and Police, ensuring Orbit fulfils its role and responsibilities as a landlord.
Support organisational learning by contributing to safeguarding data, trends and outcomes, including participation in relevant forums and reviews where required.
Represent Orbit professionally in multi-agency settings, serious case reviews and other safeguarding processes as appropriate
What will help you make a difference

At least 3 years’ experience of successfully managing safeguarding cases within a housing or local authority environment.
A high level of knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice relating to safeguarding adults and children.
Proven experience of achieving positive outcomes through effective partnership working.
Experience in managing complex caseloads, with proven resilience in maintaining personal wellbeing while supporting others.

Ability to deliver a subject-centred, customer-first approach, supporting and protecting customers while enabling sustainable solutions.
An innovative and flexible approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and complex written reports.
