How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Packaging Designer

    Location: Purley

    Our story so far..

At Tjarks and Tjarks, creativity meets craft. For over 30 years, we’ve remained proudly privately owned, shaping bold, distinctive brands that don’t just sit on the shelf. They stand out and get chosen.

We’ve been trusted partners to our clients for decades, helping them navigate the ever-evolving world of shoppers and retail by designing packaging that connects, competes and converts. In fact, we’re proud to say we’ve never lost a client.

From big ideas to flawless execution, we deliver a true 360° design-to-artwork approach. Efficient, precise and globally consistent. Our expertise lies in creating exceptional packaging for FMCG brands, particularly in food and beverage, while increasingly expanding into non-food categories.

We don’t just collaborate; we create as one. Our team blends imagination with technical excellence to bring brands to life in a seamless, fully integrated way.

    Could this be you?

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented designer with a passion for branding and packaging to join our team. You will play a key role in developing and executing packaging design across a range of food, beverage and non-food brands, working from initial concept through to refined, chosen designs.

You will manage design projects from the initial briefing through to final presentation, ensuring all work is checked carefully and delivered within agreed deadlines. The role also involves working closely with Account Managers to ensure a full understanding of client briefs, as well as attending design and project briefings to contribute ideas and creative input.

    The day to day

    • Developing creative packaging design concepts for food, beverage and non-food brands
    • Translating client briefs into strong, commercially effective design solutions
    • Creating and refining design routes, including typography, layout, colour and visual assets
    • Preparing presentation visuals and mock-ups for internal reviews and client presentations
    • Working closely with Design Directors and Account Managers to develop and evolve design work
    • Responding to feedback and refining designs to reach the strongest creative outcome
    • Ensuring all work meets brand guidelines and technical packaging requirements
    • Participating in design reviews, brainstorming sessions and project briefings
    • Staying aware of packaging trends, retail environments and competitor brands to inform design thinking

    About you

    • Experience in a design agency or packaging environment
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating FMCG or packaging design work
    • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
    • Someone who understands how packaging must perform on shelf
    • Someone who thrives in a collaborative studio environment
    • Understanding of print and packaging processes
    • Ability to balance creativity with precision and attention to detail
    • Conscientious, reliable, good attendance and timekeeping standards
    • Honest, trustworthy, and able to work unsupervised
    • Demonstrates initiative, is creative and contributes ideas
    • Friendly, approachable, respectful and a positive team player
    • Flexible, adaptable, calm whilst working under pressure
    • Proactive, takes ownership of daily tasks with a can-do attitude
    • Must be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business

    What We Offer

    • Opportunity to work on established FMCG brands
    • A collaborative and supportive creative team
    • A studio culture built on craft, creativity and long-term client relationships
    • Competitive salary based on experience

    Our Team & our values

We’re a vibrant, creative crew who care as much about our culture as the work we make. Our values aren’t just posters on the wall, they were crafted by our team and guide everything we do.

    Be Innovative – Think Ahead

    Be collaborative – Succeed together

Be Supportive – Lift each other up

Be All In – Show up with purpose

We’re always looking for talented, passionate people to join our growing squad in our Purley studio. If you’re ready to collaborate, create, and be part of something truly awesome, this is your playground.
