How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Infrastructure (Design)
Location: South London (Hybrid - 3 days office-based)
    Salary: £50,000 to £80,000 + travel allowance & package

I am currently partnering with a leading Joint Venture delivering one of the UK's most iconic and complex infrastructure projects for a generation. This is a rare opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to move away from a traditional site-based role and become a strategic pillar within a high-performing Design Team.

Based in a modern office in South London, you will be responsible for the commercial integrity of the Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire, and Communications systems during the critical design and pre-construction phases. You will ensure that world-class engineering remains commercially viable, compliant, and cost-effective as it moves from the drawing board to reality.

    The Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will bridge the gap between technical engineering excellence and robust financial management, providing real-time commercial advice to the wider project team.

    Key Responsibilities:

Support the design team through the initial phases, providing commercial risk advice and driving value engineering.
Lead the administration of NEC3/4 (Options A, C, & E) contracts. This includes investigating and drafting EWNs, Compensation Events, and General Communications.
Lead the negotiation and procurement of complex subcontract packages (Design-Delivery-Commission), testing the robustness of costs and ensuring maximum value for money.
Manage and report on all commercial aspects of allocated workstreams, including CVRs, cash flow forecasting, and margin improvement plans.
Establish and manage entitlement under the terms of the subcontract, leading the review and valuation of contractor applications for payment.
Build and maintain high-level relationships with the client's commercial teams and external design partners to ensure smooth project progression.Requirements
We are looking for a commercially astute professional who thrives in collaborative, joint-venture environments and who wants to be part of a high profile, major project. To be considered, you'll need experience in the following areas:

Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
Extensive experience administering NEC3/4 (specifically Options A, C, and E). Proficiency in CEMAR is highly desirable.
A proven track record on major UK Rail or Infrastructure projects. Experience with MEP/Systems is a significant advantage.
Experience mentoring and developing assistant or intermediate-level commercial team members.
High energy, a strategic focus on long-term relationships, and the ability to hold stakeholders to account. This is an exciting role for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to quickly become an integral member of busy and growing team. You'll join at a stage where your commercial decisions have the most significant influence on the projects success alongside access RICS training courses, pathways to chartership and the opportunity to work within a global consulting and engineering ecosystem. The role also promises hybrid working and a generous salary and package that includes:

Starting salary of £50,000 to £80,000
    £5,000 car/travel allowance
    Contributory pension
