How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract: Permanent, Full‑Time

    Job Overview

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Shift Engineer to work within a commercial office building in EC3, Central London. This is a permanent position with a well‑established SME facilities management provider, delivering critical electrical maintenance, PPM, and reactive maintenance across a high‑end office environment on a shift basis.

    This role is ideal for an Electrical Shift Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, or Commercial Electrical Engineer with experience operating within commercial office buildings or hard FM environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 24/7 electrical maintenance cover on a shift engineering rota
    Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance
    Fault finding and repair on lighting systems, power, emergency lighting, UPS, and distribution boards
    First response to electrical faults and building services alarms
    Electrical compliance checks including emergency lighting testing
    Support minor electrical installation and remedial works
    Ensure all works meet 18th Edition wiring regulations and Health & Safety requirements
    Accurately complete shift logs, job reports, and CAFM updates
    Liaise professionally with clients, security, and other engineering teams

    Candidate Requirements

    NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) – essential
    Proven experience as an Electrical Shift Engineer or Electrical Maintenance Engineer
    Experience working within commercial offices, corporate buildings, or facilities management
    Strong fault‑finding skills and a calm approach under pressure
    Good understanding of building services and hard FM operations
    Willingness to work shifts including nights and weekends
    Strong communication and customer service skills
