How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Control Systems Engineer
    Location - Glasgow

    Are you experienced in PLC and SCADA systems across the full project lifecycle?
    Do you enjoy working on complex projects within energy and renewables?
    Looking for a role where you can develop both technically and professionally?

    What will you be doing?
    ·Designing, developing and implementing PLC and SCADA/DCS systems
    ·Working across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to delivery
    ·Producing design and test documentation (FDS, DDS, test specifications)
    ·Carrying out factory acceptance testing (FAT) with internal teams and clients
    ·Modifying and upgrading existing systems, as well as supporting new builds
    ·Reviewing and checking technical work produced by others
    ·Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers

    Where you'll be doing it:
    You'll be joining a well-established engineering business working on control and automation projects across energy, renewables, water and manufacturing sectors. Projects are often within highly regulated environments, focused on improving performance and efficiency at scale.

    What you'll need:
    ·Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell or Schneider
    ·Strong SCADA configuration experience (e.g. WinCC, PCS7, Zenon or similar)
    ·Ability to write software to IEC61131 standards (ladder, FBD, ST, SFC)
    ·Experience producing technical specifications and project documentation
    ·Understanding of full project lifecycle and QA processes
    ·Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach
    ·Willingness to travel when required
    ·Full UK driving licence
