How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks

    Solihull

    Salary ££65000 - £75000

    We’re looking for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full control of the financial and contractual performance of our projects. This is a high-impact role where you’ll own everything from cost control and cash flow to subcontractor management and final accounts—ensuring projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and to the highest standard.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Own and manage all commercial and financial aspects of projects

    * Drive profitability, cost control, and cash flow performance

    * Lead valuations, applications, and payment processes in line with contract terms

    * Procure and manage subcontractors, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and prompt payment

    * Produce real-time cost reporting (CVRs & forecasts) with clear profit projections

    * Identify risks early and take action to prevent disputes and financial issues

    * Negotiate and agree variations and final accounts with clients and supply chain

    * Deliver value engineering solutions to improve efficiency and buildability

    * Ensure full compliance with contract conditions (JCT/NEC) and company procedures

    * Support, mentor, and develop junior surveyors

    * Collaborate across teams to drive project success and strong relationships

    What You’ll Bring

    * Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)

    * 8+ years’ experience in a senior commercial role within main contracting

    * Strong working knowledge of JCT / NEC contracts

    * Proven track record in cost control, financial management, and project delivery

    * Experience across multiple build types (e.g. concrete frame, steel frame)

    * Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills

    * Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure without losing focus

    * Strong commercial awareness with a sharp eye for risk and opportunity
