Day Rate: £450+ per day (TBC, depending on experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SEND professional to lead the development of a local Area SEND Improvement Plan. This is a short‑term, high‑impact role focused on drawing together a wide range of existing documentation, performance data, and partner input into a clear, coherent, and deliverable improvement plan.
The postholder will work closely with partners across education, health, and social care, ensuring shared ownership of priorities and alignment with statutory responsibilities and local strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of a comprehensive SEND Area Improvement Plan, aligned to statutory requirements and local priorities.
* Collate, analyse, and synthesise a wide range of existing documentation, including:
* SEND Self‑Evaluation Framework (SEF)
* SEND service and performance information
* Financial plans and data covering the last five years
* Relevant service strategies and transformation plans
* Engage and consult effectively with key partners, including:
* Education, health, and social care services
* Parent/carer representatives and other stakeholders
* Facilitate collaborative working to ensure shared understanding and ownership of improvement actions.
* Translate complex information and feedback into clear templates, planning frameworks, and improvement actions.
* Manage timelines and deliverables to ensure the final plan is completed by 19 June.
* Provide clear progress updates, emerging findings, and recommendations throughout the assignment.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong understanding of SEND systems, local area responsibilities, and improvement frameworks.
* Proven experience producing high‑quality strategic plans, area improvement plans, or inspection‑related documentation.
* Demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret complex data and documentation from multiple sources.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership‑working skills.
* Strong analytical, organisational, and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver at pace with minimal supervision.
Working Arrangements
* Flexible working arrangement with a requirement for onsite presence 1–2 days per week.
* Suitable for an interim or consultant with significant SEND and local area improvement experience
