Steel Loader/FLT

Questech Recruitment are supporting a leading steel services and processing business in the recruitment of a FLT Driver / Steel Loader. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to join a busy, state-of-the-art steel processing facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of steel products, ensuring deliveries are managed effectively and plant machinery is operated in a safe manner.

Job Title: Yard Operative / Steel Loader
Salary: Dependent on experience
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Hours: Shift patterns: 6:00–14:00 or 14:00–22:00 Monday to Friday (rotating) OR 16:00–04:00 Monday to Thursday

Key Responsibilities

* Loading and unloading lorries using Overhead Crane, Forklift, or Side Loader

* Picking steel sections and plates for machines

* Loading, unloading, and stacking steel onto Shotblast Machines

* Managing the receipt and dispatch of materials, including verification of delivery documents

* Organising products in accordance with operational requirements

* Reading and understanding delivery and order notes

* Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

* Experience with steel and heavy machinery/plant is desirable but not essential

* Full training will be provided

* Preferred qualifications include experience with Overhead Crane, Forklift, Side Loader, or loading operations

* Basic understanding of steel products such as beams, plates, flats, and angles is advantageous

* Attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety
