This role will primarily involve supporting key clients within the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Justice sectors. Projects typically range from one to several months in duration and offer a diverse and dynamic workload, providing the successful candidate with a varied and engaging scope of design responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A degree in a relevant discipline, although applications are also welcome from engineers who have progressed through practical experience supported by recognised qualifications
* A minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders, particularly client representatives
* Confidence in contributing to meetings with clients, project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders
* The ability to produce high-quality, detailed electrical design work for building services and power distribution systems, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, specifications, and related documentation
* A solid understanding of relevant legislation, standards, regulations, and best practices
Essential knowledge includes:
* LV distribution systems
* Lighting and emergency lighting
* Small power systems
* Fire alarm and detection systems
* Security systems
* IT and communications infrastructure
* Lightning protection
* Standby power supplies
* Earthing systems
Desirable knowledge:
* HV distribution systems
Additional advantageous skills:
* Proficiency in Amtech
* Hevacomp
* AutoCAD
* NBS specification writing
* Microsoft Word and Excel
