How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major earthworks package. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale infrastructure scheme, delivering bulk earthworks and associated civil engineering works.

    Site Engineer Roles & Responsibilities:

    * Managing engineering activities across a large earthworks package

    * Carrying out and overseeing all setting out duties using GPS and total station equipment

    * Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and technical specifications

    * Reviewing and managing site documentation including RAMS, ITPs, permits, and QA records

    * Maintaining accurate QA/QC records and completing inspection and test plans

    * Coordinating daily site operations alongside the Site Agent and Project Manager

    * Monitoring quality of works and ensuring compliance with design specifications

    * Supervising subcontractors and ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently

    * Supporting progress reporting and maintaining detailed site records

    * Assisting with planning, sequencing, and logistics of earthworks operations

    Site Engineer Requirements:

    * Previous experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks or heavy civils projects

    * Strong setting out experience (GPS, total station, machine control preferred)

    * Good understanding of QA/QC processes and site documentation

    * Experience working with bulk earthworks, cut & fill, or ground remediation

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

    * Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar)

    * Valid CSCS card

    * SMSTS or SSSTS preferred

    * Strong communication and organisational skills
