How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Design Lead

    Location: Manchester

    Salary: highly competitive inclusive of a Car Cash Allowance (based on experience)

    Clarke is seeking a highly skilled, organised and proactive Electrical Design Lead to support the delivery of mobile telecommunications infrastructure across the UK. This is a key technical role for someone with strong electrical engineering expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality, compliant and build‑ready designs while working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

    The Role

    As an Electrical Design Lead, you will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of new and upgraded mobile telecoms sites, including macro towers, rooftops, small cells and in‑building systems. Working closely with Radio, Transmission, Civils, Power and Build teams, you will produce technically accurate designs that comply with regulatory and industry standards and support efficient project delivery.

    You will act as an electrical subject‑matter expert, contribute to feasibility assessments, guide technical decision‑making and liaise with operators, local authorities and external stakeholders. The role also includes supporting process improvements, safety governance and the development of innovative design approaches across the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce and approve electrical designs for telecoms sites, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and safety protocols.

    * Act as the qualified Electrical QS for projects, ensuring robust certification and governance.

    * Conduct site feasibility assessments, including power availability, structural constraints, access considerations and budget implications.

    * Collaborate with internal engineering functions to ensure integrated, buildable and efficient design solutions.

    * Liaise with clients, mobile network operators, DNOs/IDNOs and local authorities to support project delivery.

    * Provide technical input into tenders, subcontractor engagements and project bids.

    * Ensure design accuracy, documentation quality and adherence to Clarke Telecom’s MASTS, HSEQ and governance standards.

    * Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and project outcomes.

    * Represent Clarke Telecom in technical meetings, providing clear, professional updates.

    * Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to team capability and knowledge sharing.

    * Carry out additional duties aligned to the role as required to support operational needs.

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential:

    * Strong background in electrical engineering within utilities, telecoms or related infrastructure sectors.

    * Experience delivering electrical or telecoms design work, ideally within the NERS/ICP environment.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

    * Strong organisational ability and high attention to detail.

    * Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., WinDebut, PSSE, DigSilent).

    * Valid UK driving licence.

    Desirable:

    * Degree in Electrical Engineering.

    * Membership of the IET; Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status.

    * Previous experience within the mobile infrastructure or telecoms industry.

    Skills & Attributes

    * Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    * Proactive, detail‑focused and solutions‑driven.

    * Flexible and comfortable managing changing priorities.

    * Able to build strong and positive working relationships across teams.

    * Professional, collaborative and committed to delivering high‑quality results.

    * Strong analytical skills and sound engineering judgement

    Please note: Clarke does not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be fully compliant to work in the UK.
