How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Head of Commercial

    * Location: Glasgow
    * Start Date: ASAP
    * End Date: 31 December 2026
    * Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
    * Rate: Negotiable on experience

    Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for driving commercial success in engineering projects? Our client, a reputable organisation, is hiring for a Head of Commercial to lead their commercial operations in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and execute commercial strategies, manage key stakeholder relationships, and optimise project outcomes.

    What you'll be doing:
    * Lead on contract negotiations and execution for project-based and resource-based commercial arrangements.
    * Develop and implement commercial strategies to meet margin targets, adapting to the organisation's evolving pipeline.
    * Manage supply chain performance, ensuring contractual alignment and risk mitigation.
    * Support project teams with pricing and commercial governance, reviewing proposals and securing approvals.
    * Collaborate with senior leadership to develop KPIs and improve commercial tools and processes.
    * Oversee financial management, including P&L reporting and profit recommendations.
    * Ensure contract compliance, obtaining formal instructions for variations and compensation events.
    * Engage with clients and stakeholders through regular commercial meetings to mitigate risks and resolve issues promptly.

    What you'll bring:
    * Proven experience in leading commercial functions within engineering or similar sectors.
    * Strong contract negotiation and supply chain management skills.
    * Ability to develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with organisational goals.
    * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
    * Knowledge of financial management, including P&L and commercial risk assessment.
    * Familiarity with contractual compliance and governance processes.
