How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Finchley, Barnet, London
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Salary: £37,868 – £39,851 per annum (in line with Teacher Pay Scales - M1)

Teach Now is working in partnership with a small, welcoming primary school in Finchley to recruit an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) for a September 2026 start. This role is open to ECTs interested in teaching Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, depending on strengths and preferences.

This is a school with a big community feel, where staff know every child exceptionally well and new teachers are never left feeling “lost.” The close-knit team is highly supportive, making it an ideal environment for ECTs who want to develop confidence, skill, and classroom presence within a nurturing setting.

Why this role is perfect for an ECT

Small, friendly school with strong relationships across staff, pupils, and families

Weekly mentoring with an experienced Head of School who is also the ECT mentor

Structured and rigorous induction programme with hands-on support

Shadowing, team teaching, team marking, and guided planning in the first term

Protected ECT entitlement time, always prioritised

    Planning, Workload & Wellbeing

PPA from home is embedded and working well

ECT time from home when mentoring meetings are not scheduled

Centralised planning and resources, including White Rose Maths and Cornerstones

Clear, structured writing plans provided centrally to reduce workload

Workload-conscious marking policy reviewed specifically to protect staff wellbeing

Support for Pupils – and for You

Around 40 pupils on the SEND register

Strong additional staffing, including 15 one-to-one TAs

Flexible intervention groups for all abilities, including higher attainers

Dedicated nurture, self-regulation, and intervention spaces

    Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging lessons in KS1 or KS2 with support and guidance

Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Work closely with mentors, TAs, and school leaders

Support pupil progress through assessment and feedback

    Candidate Requirements

QTS (or on track to achieve by September 2026)

An Early Career Teacher keen to develop in KS1 or KS2

A reflective practitioner open to coaching and feedback

A team player aligned with a nurturing school ethos

This is a rare opportunity to begin your teaching career in a school where community, care, and ECT development are genuinely prioritised.

Salary will be determined in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and aligned to the Early Career Teacher (ECT) pay range (M1–M2). The role is suitable for ECTs, with salary awarded at M1.
