How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Field Service Engineer
    Type: Permanent
    Pay: £35,000 per annum
    Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–4:00pm, On-call rota: 1 week in every 6 (paid)
    Location: East London/Essex
     
    I’m supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that, due to continued growth within their Field Service division, is looking to appoint a Field Service Engineer. This is a customer-facing, hands-on role where you’ll be at the frontline of the business, delivering high standards of service and technical support across critical environments.
     
    As the Field Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing market-leading technical support across the company’s full product range. You’ll work primarily within hospitals, prisons, and universities, supporting a mix of electrical and mechanical systems, with a particular focus on fire alarm systems and CCTV systems.
     
    The role is field-based, supported by a strong internal team, and offers excellent earning potential through paid travel time, overtime, and on-call allowances.

    Deliver high-quality technical support and customer service across their product range.
    Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems in the field.
    Identify and report product faults, early failures, and corrective actions.
    Improve efficiency through high first-time fix rates and reduced return visits.
    Work closely with internal teams to improve service performance and customer satisfaction.

    Experience in a field service or technical support role
    Experience working with fire alarm systems and/or CCTV systems
    Customer-facing experience with a strong service-driven mindset
    Basic knowledge of electrical and communication systems
    Full UK driving licence and eligible for DBS clearance
