How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are seeking a plasma cutter and forklift truck driver for a busy metal processing plant in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading recycling business with a presence across four continents. As such, they are keen to make a long-term investment in new staff members who are looking to build a career in the metals industry.

    Main responsibilities for the Plasma Cutter role include:

    Using a plasma cutter to cut catalytic converters
    Using a hand torch to cut metal
    Operating a forklift truck to move granulated products around the shop floor
    Stripping parts using hand tools
    Sorting parts into separate categories by hand
    Working at a sampling station to help identify the concentration of precious metals in each component (e.g. platinum/rhodium)
    Picking using a computerised inventory system
    Completing general dispatch paperworkAlthough you will likely be assigned a core area, it is the company’s aim to offer cross-training across multiple areas to maximise your skills and knowledge.

    Workwear will be provided; however, please note that you will be required to wear a full protective mask and visor to ensure proper ventilation.

    We are seeking candidates with the following core skills:

    Trustworthy and hard-working attitude
    Willingness to learn new skills
    Proven experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or process plant environment, including operating a forklift truck
    Comfortable working in a dusty environment
    Ability to use basic machinery and hand tools
    An in-date accredited Counterbalance licence would be advantageous
    Hours of work: 07:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday
    Rate of pay: £13.75 per hour, increasing to £14.50
